Facts:
Mercury's German import in the gas-crunch of the
1970's. Beginning in 1971, the Capri was available as a Sport Coupe.
It
had a 97.6ci engine that produced 75 hp. A 122ci, 86 hp four cylinder
was optional. In 1972, a 155.7ci V6 was made available.
In 1974, the 170.8ci V6 replaced the problematic 155ci. Capri II was a hatchback
model from 1976-1978. It should be noted that even though Mercury dealers
sold these cars, they did not have any Mercury emblems on them and were known
simply as "Capri." In Europe, these cars were a Ford Capri.
